Ancient Wingbone Turkey Calls

Turkey hunting in North America began long long ago and today archeologist are finding ancient devices similar to the images on the left that were used by native people of this land to harvest wild turkeys. Some of the old calls were made from animal bones like these and others used hollow plants like bamboo or switch cane to construct a call that would reproduce a turkey sound. Today people have a lot more choices to take in the woods. But the wingbone or yelper/trumpet is a call that produces awesome realistic sounds when used by an experienced outdoorsman.

My name is David Neck and I have used a wingbone call since I began turkey hunting in 1981. I made my own wingbone calls from turkeys I harvested in my early days, and I always wanted to try making a quality trumpet that would have realistic turkey sounds like my favorite wingbone. I wanted to make a call that would help hunters locate and harvest big turkeys, and I wanted these calls to be of good quality to be handed down to the next generation hunters. I like working with wood and creating something that is unique, fully functional and true to the history of other call-makers and their crafts. I named my calls NeckBone Trumpets. They are all hand crafted and even when similar, they are "One of a Kind".
SAMPLES
All NeckBone calls start as a small wood blank that I turn on my lathe. I use mostly exotic woods along with some good old walnut, oak and pecan on occassion. Below is a list of the woods I have and can make a custom trumpet call with:

Calls on hand change daily with new becoming available and current calls shipping out. Email me below for current available calls and I will send you pictures. Most of my calls are $75 each with a custom adjustable lanyard and camo case. You can use the Custom Order Form if you want a specific custom trumpet. I use a PayPal account for payment. A Custom Hand-made NeckBone turkey call comes with a custom lanyard and storing case shipped to your door! These trumpets are turned on a lathe and each is unique but very similar in sound quality due to the wood densities. If you would like a sound file on any particular call, just let me know.
